Tilton Gallery is pleased to present Abstract! Minimalism to Now, a celebration of abstract art that includes paintings, works on paper and sculptures. The exhibition will run though April 11tth, 2020 and a reception will be held Tuesday, February 25th from 6 to 8 pm.
This exhibition is a selection of artists working within the abstract mode in its many manifestations. Many of the artists have shown with the gallery, some currently and some in the course of its history. Others are newer discoveries. While the exhibition does not purport to be a survey, it spans the years 1973 to 2020, and includes works from Minimalist to Post-minimalist to mid-career and younger artists, from Sol LeWitt to Kennedy Yanko.
While some artists investigate the purity of abstract form, others take inspiration from images or conceptual and social theories from the real world. All ultimately speak in the language of abstraction in its multiplicity of forms. The variety, strength and originality of these many approaches result in works that remain fresh and vibrant, continuing to move art into uncharted and inspiringly beautiful territory.
