Tilton Gallery is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tomashi Jackson's Ecology of Fear (Gillum for Governor of Florida)(Freedom Riders bus bombed by KKK), 2020, by the Guggenheim Museum. The work is currently on view in the group exhibition, Off the Record, organized by Ashley James at the Guggenheim Museum through September 2021.
Tomashi Jackson's work is also included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, MD; The Studio Museum in Harlem, NY; the Pizzuti Collectino of Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, OH; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA.
Jackson, born in 1980 in Houston, Texas, lives and works in Cambridge, MA and New York City. Past solo museum exhibitions include the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio and the Zuckerman Museum of ARt, Kennesaw, Georgia. Forthcoming museum solo exhibiitions include The Land Claim at the Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, NY in July 2021 and Brown II at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Cambridge, MA in September 2021.
Her work was included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial and group shows at MASS MoCA, Williamstown, MA in 2017, the Contemporary ARt Center, New Orleans, LA in 2019, the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University, Houston, TX in 2020 and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, TX in 2021. Among many other upcoming exhibitions, her work will be included in What is Left Unspoken, Love at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA in 2022.
